Outstanding innovation

The beginnings of RUTAR accordions date back to 1984. Even three decades ago, they were distinguished by a unique appearance and unmatched sound, with top-quality handmade reeds and a body made from particularly resonant spruce wood. From their earliest beginnings, RUTAR accordions were the first in Slovenia to transition from wooden to metal treble switches and to introduce new bass switches, leading to much improved, softer accordions, with a better sound that were easier to play. The quality of RUTAR accordions was soon recognised by established Slovenian musicians; the first to order a RUTAR accordion in Slovenia was the famous Ansambel Nika Zajca. Rather than resting on their laurels, RUTAR accordions have never stopped evolving to become even more unique and original. Over the years, the desire for a new, more attractive appearance has led to the making of the first accordions distinguished by contemporary, iridescent colours, and hand-painted, carved or hot stamped bodies with one-of-a-kind cuttings on the bass switches. RUTAR accordions boast not just an original exterior, but also a revolutionary interior, where the company has raised the bar when it comes to developing accordions. RUTAR accordions are the first in the world to have built-in reeds on a silver base. The top-quality, handmade reeds are produced exclusively for RUTAR accordions, and the new, unique RUTAR switches (treble and bass RUTAR switches), added in 2001, represent a new turning point in the development of RUTAR accordions. Thanks to the new RUTAR switches, RUTAR accordions are easier to play, allowing even for virtuoso playing. The accordions are also better sealed and offer a lifetime guarantee of flawless performance. It should be added that the RUTAR switches, together with the exterior of RUTAR accordions, are protected worldwide and patented by the Intellectual Property Institute. Their originality, quality and success have earned RUTAR accordions the blue SQ symbol and, in 2006, the gold SQ symbol. In the search of an even more perfect sound, the metal covers of RUTAR accordions were replaced by wood; the effort was worthwhile, resulting in a gentler, fuller sound.

We are particularly proud of our collaboration with the AVSENIK family. Bringing together our strengths, ideas and know-how, we have created a unique AVSENIK-RUTAR accordion, the GOLICA model. The exterior of the GOLICA accordion was designed according to the wishes of Mr. SLAVKO AVSENIK, while the interior was created by us. It should be stressed that the GOLICA is the world's only accordion to include all of the above improvements and protected patents of RUTAR accordions.
